# Manage Skills

The Skills page provides a central overview of all Skills available in the workspace. From here, Skills can be organized, activated, edited, shared, and managed through a consistent set of controls.

***

### Overview

The Skills page lists all Skills accessible to the current user. Four tabs structure the view:

* **All:** All Skills in the workspace
* **Favorites:** Skills marked as favorites for quick access
* **My Skills:** Skills created by the current user
* **Shared with me:** Skills that other users have shared with the current account

***

### Activate or Deactivate Skills

Each Skill card includes a toggle that controls its availability in chat:

* **On:** The Skill is active and available in chat.
* **Off:** The Skill is saved but not available in chat.

The star icon next to a Skill marks it as a favorite for faster retrieval.

***

### Edit Skills

Skills can be updated at any time. Two paths are available:

**Via the edit view:**

1. Open a Skill from the list.
2. Edit the description or instructions.
3. Save the changes.

**Via chat:** Describe the desired changes directly in a chat session that uses the Skill.

**Note:** Changes apply to all future uses of that Skill. For shared Skills, updates take effect for the entire team immediately.

***

### Skill Actions

The three-dot button on a Skill card opens the *More actions* menu, which provides access to all available actions for that Skill:

* **Pin to sidebar:** Adds the Skill to the sidebar for fast, recurring access.
* **Start chat:** Opens a new chat session with this Skill already applied.
* **Edit:** Opens the Skill to adjust its description or instructions.
* **Change avatar:** Updates the avatar displayed for the Skill in lists and chat.
* **Duplicate:** Creates a copy of the Skill as a starting point for a new variant.
* **Share:** Opens the sharing options to make the Skill available to others.
* **Delete:** Removes the Skill permanently. This action cannot be undone.

***

### Filtering, Searching, and Sorting Skills

Three controls are available to narrow down the Skills library view. Filters can be combined. A search term and sort order each apply within the selected tab.

**Tab Filter**

The tab filter determines which Skills are displayed. Available tabs: All, Favorites, My Skills, Shared with me.

**Search**

The search field ("Search skills…") filters the grid by Skill name as characters are entered. The search runs within the active tab: a search in the *Shared with me* tab returns only shared Skills.

**Sort**

The *Last used* menu on the right opens the sort options. The grid can be sorted by:

* Last used
* Most used
* Last created
* Last updated
* Alphabetically

### Share Skills

Custom Skills are private to their creator by default. They can be shared with individual users, user groups, or the entire workspace.

**To share a Skill:**

1. Open the Skill's edit view and select *Share*, or open the *More actions* menu and select *Share*.
2. Choose who should receive access.
3. Confirm the selection.

**Sharing options:**

* **Specific users:** Share the Skill with one or more individual users.
* **User groups:** Share the Skill with all members of a selected group.
* **Entire workspace:** Make the Skill available to everyone in the workspace.

When a Skill is shared with the entire workspace, it is active by default for all recipients. Individual users can deactivate a shared Skill if they do not need it.

## Pinning Skills

Pinned skills appear in the sidebar for quick access. This is useful for skills used frequently, so they are always reachable without searching.

### How to Pin a Skill

1. Find the skill in the skill library or search results.
2. Open the three-dot menu on the skill card.
3. Select *Pin to sidebar*.

To unpin a skill, click *Unpin* in the sidebar.

### Accessing Pinned Skills

Pinned skills appear directly in the navigation sidebar. Pinning is personal to each user account and does not affect how the skill appears to other workspace members.

## Skill Duplication

Duplicating a skill creates an independent copy that can be modified without affecting the original. This is useful for creating variations of an existing skill or using another skill as a starting point.

### How to Duplicate a Skill

1. Find the skill in the skill library.
2. Open the three-dot menu on the skill card.
3. Select *Duplicate*.

The copy opens in edit mode. The duplicating user becomes the owner of the new skill.

### Roles and Permissions

Admins configure which Skills capabilities are available to Editors and Readers under *Workspace settings > Permissions.*

**Skills permissions:**

* **Read:** View and use Skills in chat.
* **Write:** Create and edit Skills.
* **Share:** Share Skills with users, user groups, or the entire workspace.

By default, Editors have *Read*, *Write*, and *Share* permissions. Readers have *Read* access only. Admins can adjust each permission independently.

**To manage permissions:**

1. Open *Workspace settings > Permissions.*
2. Locate the *Skills* section.
3. Enable or disable the required permissions for each role.

**Permissions overview:**

| Capability                                                | Reader | Editor | Admin |
